Interview | Worldpackers: exchange your skills for accommodation

It took me some time to start answering these questions for this interview. Firstly, I was postponing because I was busy, then because I wanted to find a moment of concentration, then I was looking for inspiration. The thing is: I am not a good writer. I don't even like writing that much. I find hard to find the right words. And especially talking about such a great experience, it isn't easy at all.

But then I decided to write now, certainly not in the right moment, and when I have many (seriously, many) things to do. Let's start.
Here it is. My worldpackers interview.

Why did you decide to travel as a Worldpacker?
I was following the adventures of a friend of mine (Ah! You should follow her too, here and here!), a former worldpacker and I totally loved the experience. I imagined myself doing the things she was doing and immediately signed up in Worldpackers website. I spent days scrolling all the amazing opportunities (and I still do it, sometimes, just waiting for the next adventure)... until one day something unexpected happened, and which made me change my plans for the Summer. So I applied for my first worldpacker experience at Balmers Hostel.

What made this experience unique and special?
Even if it was not the fist time for me to travel alone, this time it was different. It was a totally new experience. The only thing I didn't like about the whole experience is that it was short.
Being a Worldpacker at Balmers Hostel made me feel part of something. Part of the worldpackers group in the Hostel, part of Balmers crew, part of the population of Interlaken, the lovely Swiss town where I was living into.
How would you describe your connection with your host?
Being a Worldpacker at Balmers Hostel is just great.
Worldpackers in Balmers have their private accomodation in Stökli, a tiny place which has the smell of wood and looks like a place for travelers, just like Balmers.
Balmers gave us Worldpackers all kinds of advice in order to fully live our experience in Interlaken. We had free passes for trips, adventure parks, experiences, and discounts for many activities! Interlaken has a lot to offer to its visitors and Balmers is the right place to stop: friendly staff, nice and comfortable environment, good food, smiles everywhere and great activities proposed by the Hostel itself.

What advice would you give to someone considering to travel as a Worldpacker?
There is no reason why you shouldn't do it.
Don't be scared. If you're young, if you love traveling: this experience is really what you need in your life now.

How will this experience impact your life (personal or professional) and your next trips?
First of all, as soon as i can I am going to repeat this experience. About my professional life, I feel more confident about what I want to do with my life.

How traveling has changed you?
I really don't know how to express this feeling but this time I seriously feel changed. Like after every trip. But after being back (well...actually already in the airoport while waiting for my flight that took me home) I started making plans for my life. I knew I wanted to change something in my life, to continue some of the good things, and to start something new. Like this blog.
